I just ordered the last of the seeds for my edible winter garden. I used a great company called Victory Seeds. Their descriptions always make me want to order their whole catalogue. They specialize in heirloom seeds, and they have great stories to go along them. They give the history (where known) for many varieties. It is fun to know that the broccoli that I am planting is an old English variety, not something that has been genetically engineered within the last year.
The heirloom plant varieties often taste far better than the new ones, because everything now a days is about speed. When it comes to my garden, I am happy with slow and steady (or in this case, tasty) winning the race.
