It is a beautiful day outside, and my husband has informed me that he is out of socks. What’s an old-fashioned gal to do? Well I head down to the washing machine (I’m not quite old-fashioned enough to hand wash everything yet), put the clothes back into the basket wet, and carry them outdoors. We have the perfect deck for drying clothes. I can string up the clothes line on the fence, and take it down again when I’m done.
There is a great article about clotheslines in the Real Estate Journal. In it, it says: “clothes dryers account for 6% of total electricity consumed by U.S. households, third behind refrigerators and lighting, according to the Residential Energy Consumption Survey by the federal Energy Information Administration.” Since we are trying to reduce our carbon footprint, when possible, I thought that I would give this a try.
We’ll see how soft it all comes out, I may resort to tumbling it for a couple minutes at the end, but I am looking forward to putting on my tee shirt tomorrow, and reliving this glorious day!
