Today, I ran into our local knitting store for a pair of needles. Unfortunately, they were out. Fortunately, they had a dollar bin of yarn! For those of you that don’t knit, this is huge! Good quality yarn is very expensive. The cheapest ball that I bought today was originally $8.50 the most expensive was $17.00! It takes a lot of yarn to make anything bigger than a hat, so multiply the above numbers by 5 or 10, and you can see that knitting isn’t always a cost saving hobby. It is however a very satisfying hobby when you are able to get gorgeous yarns for good prices.
I can’t wait to get started knitting this all up! I commented to the lady at the store that I had never seen a dollar bin before, then I looked at my 17 balls of yarn that I was buying and realized why. The yarn probably doesn’t stay around that long at that price.
P.S. For those of you that knit and are in the area, the dollar bin was at Knit Happens.
