A couple of months ago, I bought a pasta roller to make homemade pasta. It was the best $15 that I have spent in a long time. Even though I am still struggling with making the dough just right, it tastes delicious.
Yesterday night’s batch turned out to be a bit of a mess. The noodles all stuck together, and it came out more like dumplings than fettucini, but it sure did taste delicious. The texture was amazing, much better than even supposedly fresh pasta in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. I paired this with a simple curried butternut squash sauce on top.
My thought was to make a dinner completely from scratch. In this day of convenience food, it is hard to make home cooked meals that are actually home cooked. Even though I love to cook, I often fall into this trap, but it is amazing how much better food tastes when you use fresh, good ingredients.
So my question to you is: how often do you make truly home cooked meals? I’m guessing that, if you are like me, it is not as often as you think it is.
