Yesterday, I took the first steps toward spring. I had the good fortune to shop at a garden store at just the right time. I was looking for seeds to start my spring seedlings indoors, and I hit the jackpot!
In a sad and lonely little corner of the store sat a basket of seeds marked down to 50 cents a packet (as opposed to $1.79). Needless to say, I stocked up. The reason that they were marked down was because they were last year’s seeds.
Most seeds are fine for up to three years, with some notable exceptions such as cilantro and sweet peas. I figure that even if a couple packets fail, the savings will be worth it. I can’t wait to take the first bite in a couple months!
