A friend of mine is pregnant and is expecting a boy sometime this summer. I think that every new mom should have a homemade baby quilt, but I like sewing in fun colors and textures. So this new mom is going to get a recycled denim and bright green cotton baby quilt. Today, I am going to cut the pieces and hopefully I will start on sewing tomorrow or Thursday.
What I love about using old jeans are the pockets. Children always seem to love having hiding places, and when I cut the jeans up I pay special attention to cutting the pockets so that they can be sewn into the quilt. This way when the little baby becomes a toddler, they will have a perfect toddler toy as well as a beautiful, hand-made quilt.
I am really looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.
